Stonehenge Historic Estate

The Stonehenge Historic Estate property consists of three homes and multiple outbuildings. Until recently it was an historic attraction complete with tours and a gift shop. As family preservation project and labor of love, it was in operation for over 20 years.

Dating back to the 1800’s, the Stonehenge Historic Estate’s Farmhouse and Wine Press Cottage are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is currently for sale! Come own a place of Put-in-Bay history and become part of its future.

The Stonehenge Historic Estate Details

Located only a half mile from downtown Put-in-Bay, the Stonehenge Estate sits on the eastern shore of the island providing absolutely stunning views of Lake Erie. It is also only a short walk to some local Put-in-Bay attractions like the Chocolate Cafe and Museum, Goat Soup and Whiskey, and Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center. Hit up a Put-in-Bay bar or restaurant and take in the wonderful island views.

Sitting on six acres of woods and beautifully landscaped lawn, these stone buildings are beautiful, sturdy, and in excellent condition.

The property includes the farmhouse, wine press cottage, pole barn, four car garage, pole barn, workshop, and storage building. Each unique in its own way, these buildings provide flexible use to their future owner.

The Farmhouse

Built in the 1870’s, the main building on the ground, the farmhouse consists of two floors. The main floor houses a full kitchen, dining, and living room. The property includes a full bath and a pleasant enclosed porch.

The second floor boasts four large bedrooms and a ½ bath. New additions include a roof completed in 2015, hot water heat, and an outdoor patio. This is the perfect place to sit on a warm, sunny day admiring the surrounding grounds.

Wine Press Cottage

The oldest building at Stonehenge dating from the 1850’s, the Wine Press Cottage contains an open floor plan with a living area and partial kitchen. It is a two story structure with a lofted bedroom area, one full bath, and a storage area.

The Wine Press Cottage also has a new roof as well as electric baseboard heat. There is also a large cellar.

Barn

A slightly newer building, the barn construction began in the 1930’s with the first floor stone walls and completed in the 1980’s with the addition of the second floor. The barn can also be used as a living quarters with three bedrooms, two full baths, kitchen, living, and dining rooms all located on the second floor. The property also includes an enclosed porch.

The first floor was recently used as a gift shop with 2500 square feet of retail space and ½ bath. This can also be converted into another living area. A two car garage and storage area round out the space.

Additional Buildings

The pole barn, four car garage, pole barn, workshop, and storage building round out the property. All recently renovated, they include electricity and heat. The four car garage enjoyed the addition of a new roof in 2015 as well.
