Put-in-Bay Airport

Open to the public, the Put-in-Bay Airport is located on the southern half of South Bass Island.

Put-in-Bay Airport Details

The Put-in-Bay Airport consists of two runways. However, it is open year round and accepts arrivals and departure from dawn to dusk. The runways are in good condition, paved and modern, but not lighted. No departures are allowed after dusk.

Planes arriving can expect some light turbulence on approach when the wind exceeds 10 knots. Most importantly, every plane must remain 1000 feet from Perry’s Victory and International Peace Monument. This 352 ft column is located 1.5 miles southwest of the field with an elevation of 942 MSL.

The Put-in-Bay Airport does not offer fuel service but it may be purchased at two of the nearby airports. The Erie-Ottawa Regional Airport and Griffing Sandusky Airport offer fuel service. In addition, the Put-in-Bay Airport also provides charter services, vending machines, and restrooms. All major credit cards are accepted as well. When a Put-in-Bay ferry, like a Jet Express, can no longer take you to the island because of the ice, planes are used to come and go from the island more frequently.
