put in bay fish-shak

The Fish Shak caters to the seafood lovers of Put-in-Bay, which means pretty much everyone! Part of the Boardwalk Family of Restaurants, the Fish Shak is affordable, charming, and comes with fabulous lake views.

The Fish Shak Details

The Fish Shak is located on the main deck of the Boardwalk. With a casual atmosphere and delicious bites, this spot is ideal for families and folks looking for a quick meal before heading out on an island or Lake Erie adventure.

The hand breaded walleye and perch come out of the fryer nice and crisp everytime. Choose a classic fish sandwich or opt for a basket complete with tartar sauce and a side of french fries. Round out your meal with a soda or cold one from one of the two bars nearby.

There really is something amazing about soaking in the lake breezes and enjoying locally caught fish at the same time. This type of appreciation for Lake Erie is what Put-in-Bay is all about. The friendly, easy-going Boardwalk is known as a favorite gathering place for locals and tourists alike.

The Boardwalk

The Boardwalk is divided into the Upper and Main Deck but wonderful, open atmosphere affects the entire place equally.

The Main Deck

Two bars sit near the Fish Shak. The Burgee Bar serves a mean Riptide Rum Punch along with other delicious handcrafted frozen cocktails. Beer is available in bottles and on tap and live music plays every weekend during the summer season.

Clawdaddy’s Bar occupies prime real estate right next to the water and includes a smoking section. This small, charming bar has a full cocktail list as well as wine and beer available.

The Little Galley is on deck to serve up family favorites from Black Angus Burgers to white meat Chicken Strips and French Fries! Rounding out the Main Deck is Book’s Seafood, which serves up gourmet fare at an affordable price. Dig into heaping plates of Alaskan King Crab, Live Maine Lobster, Key West Shrimp and New Zealand Mussels.
No matter what, don’t miss out on the famous, some may even say infamous, Lobster Bisque. Made with real Maine lobster, diners can pick a regular bowl or bread bowl. This divine dish is in such high demand here, you can order from one of the three concessions and have it delivered to you wherever you sit.

The Upper Deck

The Upper Deck is the spot for tableside service and expansive views. Added in 2007, this coveted spot offers 180 degree panoramic views of the lake with a gourmet flair. Every dish is freshly prepared, from burgers to pasta and of course, lobster bisque. They have an extensive wine and beer list as well as their fabulous martini menu.

Is tequila more your speed? Rita’s Cantina is home to the islands most extensive and delicious tequila list. Slurp down one of their many premium handcrafted margaritas or sip a shot of fine Patrón while watching the sun go down over Lake Erie. Life is good at the Boardwalk.

There are lots of options for a refreshing beverage to go along with your meal from the Fish Shak. The Burgee Bar next door is known for their delicious Riptide Rum Punch along with other hand-crafted frozen cocktails. They also have plenty of bottled and draft beer. Live music plays every weekend during the summer reason.

Clawdaddy’s Bar is located right next to the water and includes a smoking section. Rita’s Cantina is upstairs and mixes up a very fine margarita. You can’t go wrong with the classic on the rocks with salt, but try their fruity frozen options too!

Other food options include the Little Galley, Book’s Seafood, and the upscale Upper Deck. Known for its amazing Lobster Bisque, the Upper Deck features friendly tableside service and an impressive martini list. Wine and beer are also available.

While you enjoy their Walleye and Perch dishes from the Fish Shak, take in the surrounding sites. The two smaller islands Gibraltar and Middle Bass Island are viewable from the deck of The Boardwalk. Gibraltar, named for the Rock of Gibraltar, was Commodore Perry’s lookout point during the War of 1812. Currently it is home Ohio State University’s freshwater research facility.
